ID-51E PLUS D-STAR Digital Amateur Radio Handportable launches in the UK
The latest generation of D-STAR handportable has now arrived in the UK and will be shortly available from Icom UK dealers. Called the ID-51E PLUS, the new model is an evolution of the popular ID-51E which is so popular within the D-STAR Amateur radio community.
The new model incorporates popular features found in the original including integrated GPS, an independent AM/FM receiver and V/V, U/U, V/U Dualwatch, but also includes the following enhancements for digital operation and compatibility with the RS-MS1A free Android application.
• RS-MS1A Android Application: The RS-MS1A free download allows users to connect their Android device to the ID-51E PLUS via the optional OPC-2350LU cable. Access to repeater site locations and exchange text/picture messages.
• Faster data transfer in DV mode: The ID-51E PLUS transfers data 3.5 times faster than in conventional DV mode (with voice), which allows for quick transmission of images between the radio and an Android device.
• Additional Dplus reflector link commands: These link commands are added to the DR function, permitting simple multiple repeater connection from the reflector.
• DV and FM repeater search: This function looks for early analogue FM repeaters as well as DV repeaters using the built-in GPS and repeater memories.
